While I had been interested in prospecting for many years, this was my first real experience with it. I admit I was a little apprehensive after only examining the website, but after speaking to Lisa over the phone, my grandson and I arrived with great anticipation. We wanted to get experience with real gold prospecting, not some highly packaged and artificial touristy thing. After we met Miner John and saw Woods Creek, we knew we had found it. We spent two full days in the creek, and with Miner John and Lisa's guidance, had a great time and found some gold as well. This was a trip that far exceeded our expectations, and we plan to return again. I would recommend it to anyone willing to sample the real thing.

My family has been interested in panning for gold for quite some time. I searched various sites on line and was impressed by Miner John's website. He and Lisa were incredibly helpful, answered my call/s right away, and really made our experience memorable.

My son & I, while on a road trip exploring Californing recently, dropped in on Miner John & Lisa to learn how to look for gold. They welcomed us and put us to work. We enjoyed very much our experience learning about how to look for gold. Miner John is a great teacher. He really knows how to work the pan and has a great eye and ear for spotting gold. Robbie & I used a high banker to process all the dirt we dug up. After we finished digging, miner John took apart the high banker and heard the small nugget hit the bottom of the sluice as soon as it fell out of the mesh material it was trapped in. I was impressed. Then, after we removed everything that was trapped in the high banker, it was time to learn how to pan. Miner John is really good at teaching the panning technique. I was nervous as he was teaching me because it looked like it was all being washed away, but I trusted him. I became comfortable panning like him, because each time we washed a handful of dirt we found gold in the bottom of the pan. I walked away with some gold. What a very memorable learning experience!
